About the Fund

The Fund has tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, so your gift is tax deductible.

We conducted a one-time fundraising appeal that collected more than $75,000. This will allow the Fund to operate for a 10- to 15-year period, making more frequent and larger awards than we could from a perpetual endowment.

Recognizing and supporting youth
who support their communities

Brush Memorial Scholarships are awarded annually to graduating Vermont and New Hampshire high school students who demonstrate the same values that Buster did: compassion, hard work, community service, school spirit, leadership, and the desire to challenge themselves.

Two scholarships are awarded each year, one to a Vermont student and one to a New Hampshire student. Each scholarship recipient receives $1,000, and the scholarship can be renewed annually for up to four years if the recipient continues to meet the qualifying criteria.

In awarding these scholarships, we honor Buster's memory by cultivating and rewarding active, well-rounded young citizens, much as Buster did.
